Communication Plan
Who I Communicate With?
Communication with all key stakeholders is a critical component of classroom management success. This communication will allow for an open door to collaboration with stakeholders. Throughout the school year, I will be in communication with students, parents, and members of administration. My communication will be frequent and ongoing, providing up to date information.
Before school starts, I will begin to communicate with parents through a phone call and a written letter. The letter will include additional contact information including my phone number, email, and a link to our classroom blog. Students will also receive a letter, welcoming them to the class. These letters can ease both parents and students of concerns and create a positive connection.

Communication Tools
I will use a variety of methods to support my communication with key stakeholders.
Phone Calls Home
I will make weekly phone calls home to parents to share good news. This will create an open line of communication with parents. When necessary, I will also make a phone call home, when I have a concern regarding a student. A note of all phone calls will be recorded along with the date, reason for the call, the parent's response, and the call outcome.
Welcome Letter to Parents
Before the first day of school, I will send a letter home to parents. This letter will allow me to introduce myself to the parents of my students and form a open line of communication. This letter will outline the ways in which I will be communicating home throughout the school year. Also, it will invite parents to participate and volunteer in the classroom. I will use this letter as a means to form a collaboration with parents before the school year begins. View a sample Welcome Letter to Parents below.

Classroom Blog
Our classroom blog will be used to communicate with both students and parents. It will contain notes to parents and students, a classroom calendar, information on upcoming events such as parent-teacher conferences and field trips, and will be used to publish students' work. The blog can be easily updated by the teacher or students. Parents and students will also be able to leave comments or responses on the blog.
Person-to-Person Meetings
If parents have concerns or questions, they will be welcome to set up a face-to-face meeting. These meetings can be scheduled for any day after school or on weekends if necessary.
Field Trip Permission Letter
Before any field trips, parents will be notified though a letter sent home. This letter will provide an overview of the field trip including the date, location, time, and purpose, along with a permission slip. The permission slip must be completed, signed by a parent or guardian, and returned before a student is permitted to attend the field trip. I will send Field Trip Permission Letters home three weeks in advance and ask them to be returned within two weeks. A sample Field Trip Permission Letter can be viewed below.
